The classic blouse is made of black calico. It has white ribbons on the sleeves and a bone-lace collar that reflects a middle-class taste. The skirt is made of the same material as the blouse and is gathered at the waistline.

Costume from Nyitra

Provincialism: Felvidék
Region: Nyitra
The blouse is made of cotton linen; it is pearl embroidered and has narrow sleeves. There is a lilac brocade vest worn over it, and the neckline is decorated with machine-made lace trimming. It closes with seven glass buttons on the front. The black satin cloth skirt is accordion-pleated and decorated with ribbons and flitters.

Swabian Lad’s costume from Rimaszombat

Region: Rimaszombat
The breeches are made of black corduroy and decorated with laces and green braids. There is a vest worn above it. The shirt under the vest is embroidered on the breast section and decorated with blue buttons. A pair of boots with hard shafts and a black felt hat complete the costume.

Girl’s costume from Kéménd

Provincialism: Felvidék
Region: Kéménd
The hair hangs down in a single braid and is decorated with color ribbons. There is a pink ribbon tied on the end of the braid. The blouse is made of white linen and is decorated with machine-made lace on the cuffs. The decorated vest, with an elongated waist cut to accentuate the hip, is made of brocade, whilst the skirt with a pleated upper section and a tubed lower section is made of the same textile. There is a silk apron worn over the skirt. A white tulle neck décor completes the costume. The boots are sewn on the sides and pleated on the foot. They are the so-called “one-leg boots”, because each boot precisely fits each foot.

Woman’s costume from Kolon

Region: Kolon
Embroidered, velvet headdress affixed to the soft under-headdress is worn on the head. The vizitke is made of brocade and decorated with insertions. The accordion-pleated skirt is made of brocade and decorated with applied ornaments. An accordion-pleated apron made of black textile and decorated with ribbons in the central section adds to the costume. Black boots with hard shafts are on the feet.

Young wife’s costume from Kolon

Region: Kolon
Garland-patterned silk shawl is worn on the head. The underblouse is made of fashionable fine linen and its cuffs are decorated with loop stitches. A bodice decorated with ribbons and an accordion-pleated, brocade skirt complete the blouse. An accordion-pleated apron made of black textile and decorated with ribbons in the center and lower sections is worn over it. Black spanglis shoes are on the feet.

Woman’s costume from Kéménd

A silk shawl tied in front is on the head. The underblouse is white; the vest is made of brocade, has an elongated waist, and is decorated with applied ornaments to accentuate the hips. The yoke skirt with tucked upper part and with a tubed lower section is made of the same textile. A black apron is worn over the skirt. Black cashmere neck décor completes the costume. A pair of tongued boots with hard shafts is on the feet.

Woman’s festive costume from Martos

Provincialism: Felvidék
Region: Martos
A so-called hűsös shawl made of tilangli (bone-lace) textile, richly decorated with color ribbons, gold bone-lace and pumpkin seeds, is worn on the head. The blouse is made of blue perkát, and has baggy sack-sleeves, bone-lace applied ornaments, cross stitches, pleated double bone-lace frills, and pleats on the elbows. The accordion-pleated skirt is made of a textile decorated with tiny flower patterns on black background and has ribbon decorations at the bottom. The pleated apron decorated with golden bone-lace, many rows of pumpkin seeds, and ribbons is worn over the skirt. A neck shawl made of tilangli and decorated with ribbons in two rows, pumpkin seeds, golden bone-lace, pleated bone-lace frills and plain décor, as well as a stomach and arm ribbon made of colorful ribbons, complete the costume. A pair of black leather boots is on the feet.

Festive costume from Rimaszombat

Region: Rimaszombat
The blue brocade linen wear, made in háromhátú fashion, on which there is a pearled applied ornament to accentuate its style at the back and the tail cut. The skirt is gathered at the waistline; it is made of brocade decorated with white chrysanthemum patterns on a black background, and the lower part is designed with colored yarn chain-stitches in many rows and decorated with sectioned flower motifs.

Costume from Kolon

Provincialism: Felvidék
Region: Kolon
Fine linen blouse with decorative loop-stitched sleeve cuffs. There is a red brocade vest, a so-called “wolf bodice”, made of green silk and pleated ribbons is worn over it. The skirt is accordion pleated with the same red textile, and the apron with koloni (flat stitched) embroidery is made of fine white linen.
